The Cosmic Tarot, with its fascinating, intricate images, reflects all that the tarot has been, and all that it can be. Its symbolism ranges freely through time, from ancient Egypt to present-day Europe. We can identify with the human figures, whether they are in the costume of the pharaohs or in modern business suits. Noble or abject, wise or enchained in folly, free spirited or snared in materialism and decadence, the people on the deck show us ourselves in the midst of life. Both the familiarity and the mystery of the figures draw us in, into ourselves, into pondering the questions that recur over and over in our lives.
- Jean Huets, from The Cosmic Tarot book
Norbert Lösche - born on the 3rd of September 1951 near Aachen/Germany created the Cosmic Tarot in 1987 and the Bavarian company F.X.Schmid was its first publisher. The picture one sees as the cover is the design of the box of the first edition of the Cosmic Tarot by F.X. Schmid - Norbert Lösche designed the whole box by hand and the High Priestess is different from the card of the High Priestess in the deck.
In this deck's Minor Arcana the courts use Princess (Page) and Prince (Knight) alongside Queen and King.
The Majors follow the pre-RWS order with Justice as card 8 and Strength as card 11.
