Tarot Timing Spread

Often the hardest skill to perfect with Tarot is putting a time frame on events to come. Numerology and Astrology can play a significant complementary role. There are many techniques for pinpointing when something will happen.

The Timing Spread

The Timing Spread uses The Wheel of Fortune as the time marker. Decide what unit of time is most realistic for your question, within a range of 1 to 78. You can ask how many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or even years until the event you expect will occur. Choose “None” if you simply want to count the cards.

Looking at the full, shuffled deck and thinking about your question, start selecting cards. Keep doing this until you find The Wheel of Fortune. The number of cards it took, including the Wheel of Fortune, is the answer. If it is near the end, in the 70s, it may never happen.

Other methods for timing events with Tarot

1. The seasons in the imagery. The Hermit is usually an old man walking in the snow at night, suggesting winter. The Sun would suggest summer. What do the images tell you about the season?

2. The element of the final card in the Celtic Cross. Cups/Water: immediate, within days. Fire/Wands: within weeks. Air/Swords: within months. Earth/Coins: within a year.

3. Use the other divinatory arts. Numerology and Astrology are better suited to giving exact timing of events. In The 2-hour Tarot Tutor, Wilma Carroll suggests looking at the personal day, month and year, combined with the phases of the moon.

   A Full Moon, or a 9 personal month or day, suggests endings or events coming to a head. New Moons, or a 1 personal month or day, suggest beginnings and starting projects. A journey could fall on a 5 personal day; a family commitment on a 6 personal day; a day of power and being in control on an 8 personal day.
