Origins of Numerology. The spiritual significance of numbers.

Why do people believe in numerology? What possible religious or spiritual significance can something as dull as numbers have?

To understand Numerology's value in religion, spirituality or the sub conscious mind you first need to understand that Numerology isn't about numbers in the traditional mathematical sense. Numerology is about the symbolic and human conscious (and subconscious) meaning of numbers.

The easiest example to explain this with is the first 2 numbers, 1 and 2.
Everyone gets the symbolic concept of the number 1. To be called number 1. To be 1st.
Number 2 is it's symbolic opposite, everyone understands the meaning of 2nd. Being number 2.
All the numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 have a symbolic meaning which is deep rooted into the human conscious and subconscious.

Phases of the MoonWhy 9 numbers in a cycle of 10? (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10=>1(1+0)) The number 9 is known as the number of man and humanity. It's the number of cycles of the moon that must pass for a child to grow from conception to birth. The connection between the moon and human reproduction is very clear. Human females have, on average, regular menstrual cycles of 28 days which is also the numbers of days in the lunar cycle. Pregnancy interferes with the menstrual cycle for a period of 40 weeks or 10 lunar cycles. Before we had clocks, calendars or any timing device we measured time using the moon, the sun and the stars. Our lives are created and begin with this lunar cycle of 10. The thinking behind numerology is that we are locked into this cycle of 1->9->1, for the rest of our lives. Numerology is older than all religions and is used extensively by all religions. It's not some recently cooked up craze or passing spiritual fashion. It's as old as humanity itself.

Calculating Your Personal Day, Month & Year

To calculate the Personal Year we start by taking the month and day that you were born on and reducing them to their single numerological digit. For example if you were born on the 24th of June then this would be calculated as 2 + 4 + 6 (June being the 6th month). This adds up to 12 which reduced to completion becomes 1 + 2 = 3. Now work out the Universal Year value. If the year is 2010 this will reduce to 2 + 0 + 1 + 0 = 3. Add together the Universal Year number and your birth date reduced and you get 3 + 3 = 6. So you personal year for 2010 would be a 6 Personal year.

The Personal Month is found simply by adding the number of the month to your Personal Year number. For example if your Personal Year number is a 6 and it is April, 6 + 4 (April is the 4th month) would give you 10. Reducing again 1 + 0 = 1. Therefore April is a 1 Personal Month for you in a 6 Personal Year.

The Personal Day is found by adding the Personal Month number to the day of the month reduced. For example if it is the 25th and this is a 1 Personal Month for you, reduce the day 2 + 5 = 7 and add the personal month 7 + 1 = 8. Therefore the 23rd is an 8 Personal Day for you in a 1 personal month.

The Period of a Year calculation is different for each of the 3 periods. All 3 calculations use the year of your last birthday as the base number. So if your birthday is 1st June 1981 and you want a forecast for the week of 7th February 2015 the base year used in calculating the Period is 2014 (2+0+1+4 = 7).

The 1st Period of a Year is found by adding the base year to your age. Using the previous example this person would have been 33 on their last birthday in 2014. So the 1st Period would be 2014 (2+0+1+4 = 7) + 33 (3 + 3 = 6). Adding year and age would be 7 + 6 = 13 and reducing 1 + 3 = 4.

The 2nd Period of a Year is found by adding the base year to your Life Path number. Using the previous example this person would have a Life Path of 8. So the 2nd Period is 7 + 8 = 15, and reducing, 1+5 = 6.

The 3rd Period of a Year is found by adding the base year to your Sourl's Urge found using your name. If we assume that the person's Soul's Urge is 1 then their 3rd Period is  7 + 1 = 8.

Master Servant Cycle

As we often feel in life someday's are ours and we have the upper hand for a day, deciding what to do with our time and energies. The other days are not. On those days we find we are tied down to our responsibilities either to family, or friends or to our job. On those days we are in the service of others.

That pattern is reflected in Numerology. Each number from 1 through to 9 swings between putting you in a position of being master of your life and servant to your life and to others. The number 9 is the exception as in this phase of the cycle you are neither master nor servant. 9 is the number of man and humanity. It is also the number of endings. In the 9 you cannot start but you have the power to put an end that which you no longer need. If you can do anything constructive then it is for the benefit of others, but for all mankind and not just those close to you.
