Seven of Pentacles Tarot Card Meaning & Interpretations
Sometimes it is better to wait for something to come to you rather than pushing, working or seeking out what it is you are trying to get. This is a central theme in numerology with the number 7. When you are in a 7 personal day, or 7 personal year, it is wiser to sit back and let things come to you and not attempt to pursue anything. Tarot cards numbered 7 tend to be trickier in interpreting their meaning, using just the imagery or element, but much easier when you fully understand the symbology of 7 in numerology. The 7 of Pentacles is no exception as A.E Waite states in his attempt to explain this card "These are exceedingly contradictory".
The 7 of Pentacles is depicted in the Rider Waite Smith (RWS) deck as a young man resting from his labour and contemplating a bush with 6 pentacles growing on it. A single pentacle grows from the ground between his feet. If you look through the cards in the RWS Suit of Pentacles notice the colour of the background sky in each card. All the court card have a sun yellow sky including the prosperous and rich 9 Of Pentacles. Reviewing all the cards in the deck you'll notice the colour of the sky reflects the general mood of the card. A yellow or blue sky in cards with a positive theme and grey or black in cards with a negative theme. The 7 of Pentacles in the RWS deck has a grey sky and from this we might speculate that the farmer is concerned about his crops. He stands there wondering what more can he do for them, even though they are looking good, and if he follows the wisdom of numerology he will do nothing more other than just wait. The next number in the cycle of numbers, number 8, would be the correct time to begin work again and this can be seen in the imagery of the 8 Of Pentacles.
The 7 of Pentacles card advises no action even though you may want to make a move, an investment, try to work harder or re-work something. This is the material wait and see card. For a purchase decision this card would be advising you to wait and hold off. Good fortune and luck in life is often down to timing, just being in the right place at the right time. The opposite is also true. Bad luck and misfortune are often due to bad timing. With the 7 of Pentacles, and as a rule with all the 7's, you are being given a warning that the timing of something is not in your favour. There's more to the 7 than just doing nothing though. The 7, in numerology, is the card of study, reflection and planning. Rather than making your move at this time you are being also advised to prepare for when the right moment does come for action, allowing you to execute to your full advantage and potential.
The 7 of Pentacles, or the 7 of Coins, is a card of resting from work, financial planning and research before purchasing. The element here is Earth which relates to wealth and material possessions. The positive characteristics of the number 7 in numerology are contemplation, introspection, reflection, rest, withdrawal, knowledge, analysis and research. As with all 7's the 7 of Pentacles advises thought before action and preparedness as the key to future success.

THE PICTORIAL KEY TO THE TAROT
By Arthur Edward Waite (1911)
A young man, leaning on his staff, looks intently at seven pentacles attached to a clump of greenery on his right; one would say that these were his treasures and that his heart was there. Divinatory Meanings: These are exceedingly contradictory; in the main, it is a card of money, business, barter; but one reading gives altercation, quarrels--and another innocence, ingenuity, purgation. Reversed: Cause for anxiety regarding money which it may be proposed to lend.
